NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) - Police are investigating a shooting in central New Jersey that left a 21-year-old woman dead and a 28-year-old man wounded.

The Middlesex County prosecutor's officer says the shooting occurred around 2 a.m. Saturday outside the Progressive Masonic Temple in New Brunswick.

Jessica Torres of North Brunswick was pronounced dead at a hospital. Her death was classified as a homicide.

An unidentified New Brunswick man, whom authorities described as an acquaintance of Torres, remains in the hospital, where he is being treated for gunshot wounds.

Investigators say the shooting was not random. A motive remains under investigation. No arrests have been made.

Torres was the mother of a 2-year-old boy.
