Police say a New Jersey man has been charged in connection with a big brawl that broke out among people attending two different wedding receptions in a Philadelphia hotel.
Matthew Sofka, 26, of Westfield, is charged with aggravated assault and other counts. A message left at a telephone listing for him was not immediately returned, according to the Associated Press.
The incident happened early Sunday morning at the Society Hill Sheraton hotel.
Wedding guests say two brothers got into a fight. Something was thrown and it hit another person. That's when the chaos erupted.
Fighting broke out among dozens of people attending the receptions. Police say a 57-year-old guest suffered a fatal heart attack outside the reception.
He is identified as Vincent Sannuti. Relatives say it was his 57th birthday.
Outside the hotel, a bride could be seen running down Old City's cobblestone streets in her gown, chasing after the ambulance that Sannuti was placed into. The woman was believed to be his niece.
Dozens of people were involved in the altercations and police arrested three people; at least one man was subdued with a stun gun.
Video showed police using batons on one man who was resisting arrest.
Several wedding guests ended up in the emergency room with various injuries.
The chaos, at 2 a.m., woke guests up in their rooms. Some ventured out and shot video of the scene.
Police say they don't know what started the brawl, but that alcohol was involved.
