Italian-Americans paid homage to the Christopher Columbus monument at Columbus Circle Sunday morning.
The Columbus Citizens Foundation held a wreath laying ceremony that dates back to the 1920's at the 120-year old statue that is surrounded by a large public art fund exhibit.
The annual ceremony paid tribute to Columbus' explorations as well as Italian-American immigrants and their descendants who are civil servants.
The monument was erected in 1892 in honor of the 400th anniversary of Columbus's historic voyage.
