Subway station agents and MetroCard vending machines began selling MetroCards that display a front-facing advertisement for the first time Sunday.

The cards feature ads from the Gap that reads "Be Bright NYC" with multicolored letters on a navy blue background. It encourages customers to visit Gap's newly remodeled flagship store at 34th Street and Broadway starting October 10 and offers customers a 20 percent discount on purchases through November 18 at any Gap store.

The new MetroCards can be brought at ten subway stations in Manhattan and marks the first time in 15 years the MetroCards feature anything on the front other than the gold design with MetroCard written in blue lettering.

The MTA says the ads will give the agency a new source of revenue.
