Suspicious cargo forces Newark airport evacuation

MYFOXNY.COM -

Workers were allowed back in to a cargo building at Newark Liberty International Airport Friday morning after being evacuated due to a suspicious package.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey says the evacuation was ordered a little before 10:30 a.m. after a package tested positive for explosives. The Port Authority operates Newark Liberty Airport.

It turned out to be a false alarm.

Spokesman Ron Marsico says the package was cleared by the Essex County Bomb Squad and employees were being allowed back into building 157  by about 11:30.
