When the curtain rises on the 2012 Hamptons International Film Festival those in attendance will be treated to a deeply personal and never-before-seen look into a woman you may think you know so well: Marilyn Monroe.

Hollywood heavyweights Glenn Close, Uma Thurman, Marisa Tomei, and Viola Davis read excerpts from Monroe's diary entries and letters.

For the first time, Marilyn's innermost thoughts on her rise to fame and the demons that she faced will be exposed.

Over the next five days festival many films, starring students and stars alike, will debut.

One getting a lot of buzz already is "Argo," a real-life story starring and directed by Ben Affleck and produced by both Affleck and George Clooney. The political thriller is set in Tehran during the 1979 Iran hostage crisis.

Then there is reality and the touching documentary of two Long Island women doing what they can for a neighbor in need. "Mondays at Racine" is about one Long Island beauty salon opening its doors every third Monday of the month to cancer patients looking for a little TLC, be that a manicure, a massage, or a new 'do for their old wig.

"Mondays at Racine" premieres Saturday morning in East Hampton. HBO will air the documentary next year.
