TCU quarterback arrested for DWI

Posted: Updated:
FORT WORTH, Texas -

Police arrested the starting quarterback for Texas Christian University on a DWI charge just before 1 a.m. Thursday.

Casey Pachall has been suspended indefinitely, according to Coach Gary Patterson.

Pachall, a junior from Brownwood, Texas, was driving a gray Dodge pickup when an officer saw him allegedly run a stop sign on Devitt Street and University Drive in Fort Worth.

A police report indicates the pickup's driver pulled in front of the officer as he was headed south on University Drive, and also ran a tire over the curb during the turn.

The officer pulled the truck over, performed a field sobriety test and arrested Pachall.

The student was released from the Mansfield Jail Thursday afternoon in lieu of a $1,000 bond.

Coach Patterson released the following statement:  "Casey Pachall has been suspended indefinitely from competition. My job as a head coach is to win games, educate our kids and help them with their lives."

Pachall was among several student athletes who were caught in a massive drug scandal at the school earlier this year.

The quarterback was not arrested, but failed a mandatory drug test. Instead of suspension, he was given counseling.

The TCU football team is scheduled to play Iowa State in Fort Worth this Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
