Cops on Long Island say a man who scammed a college student for a bogus student loan was busted when he went back to get more money.

Police say that Shawn Terrel Boone, 24, of Hempstead approached an 18-year-old student on the campus on Nassau Community College on Sept. 11, 2012.

They say he claimed to be a business accountant and told the victim she was eligible for a $10,000 student loan which she would not have to pay back.  He said that he needed her bank card and PIN in order for the loan to take place.

The student gave him the information.  A few days later her bank told her that a $900 fraudulent deposit and withdrawal had been made to her account.

On Sept. 28, 2012 police say Boone called the victim and told her his people would be making a visit to her home for more money.

On Monday, police say Boone called the woman to tell her he was coming to her home.

She called police and when Boone arrived, he was arrested.

Police say they found a Hempstead man's credit card on Boone during the arrest.

Boone faces several charges including aggravated harassment.

He was to be arraigned Tuesday in Hempstead.
