Serves 6
Ingredients:
Olive oil - 1/2 oz.
Yellow Pepper, small dice – ½ medium size pepper
Green Pepper, small dice – ½ medium size pepper
Tempeh, crumbled – 1 pound
Water – 4 oz.
Molasses – 1 oz.
Brown Sugar – 1 Tbsp.
Canned Diced tomatoes – 6 oz.
BBQ sauce – 2 oz.
Red Wine Vinegar – ½ oz.
Dried yellow mustard – ½ tsp.
Liquid smoke – ½ tsp.
Kosher Salt – 1 tsp.
Black Pepper – 1 tsp.
Whole wheat Kaiser Buns – 6 each
1. Heat oil in a sauce pan on medium heat.
2. Add onions and peppers, sauté 3-4 min.
3. Add crumbled tempeh, combine
4. Add brown sugar, molasses, BBQ sauce, red wine vinegar, mustard, salt, pepper, tomatoes and liquid smoke.
5. Bring to a simmer and cook until tempeh has absorbed most of the liquid.
6. Put approx. 5 oz. Sloppy Jane on Wheat bun and enjoy!
