Lincoln Center pedestrian bridge opens

Posted: Updated:

NEW YORK (AP) -- Lincoln Center is celebrating the completion of a six-year, $1.2 billion redevelopment project with the dedication of a pedestrian bridge spanning West 65th Street.

The 83-foot-long President's Bridge will be dedicated at a ceremony on Monday.

It connects the upper level plaza of the Rose Building and the adjacent Walter Reade Theater and The Juilliard School to the public spaces, concert halls, theaters and restaurants on the south side of Lincoln Center's campus.

Over the last decade, new green spaces and eating establishments have been added to the 16-acre campus as part of the redevelopment. New digital signage about the center's many activities also has been installed.

Lincoln Center says it sells about 3.2 million tickets a year and generates more than $3.4 billion for New York's economy.
