Veterans, firefighters and others participated in the 11th annual Stephen Siller Tunnel to the Towers Run Sunday morning.

Over 30,000 runners took part in race to honor the 343 firefighters who died on September 11, 2001 and the participants were from all parts of the metropolitan area, across the country and from as far away as England and Hawaii.

The 5-kilometer race is named for Stephen Siller, a NYC firefighter who was killed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The race retraces the same path Fireman Siller took from the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the World Trade Center wearing 60 pounds of gear strapped to his back on that day.

The charity event has risen over $15 million since its inception.
