Big Brothers, Big Sisters of NYC race for kids

The 8th Annual Race for the Kids to support Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC was held Saturday morning. 

Nearly 3,500 runners participated in the race that took place at Riverside Park at 72nd Street. 

Fox 5 News meteorologist was the Master of Ceremonies for the race and the event was part of Nickelodeon's Worldwide Day of Play. 

The race was created to show how powerful a mentor can be for many of the city's youth who need caring adult role models. 

There was also a picnic, concerts, rock climbing and other activities in addition to the race. 

The Race for the Kids has raised over $4 million.
