Deal names replacements to Miller Co. school board

Posted: Updated:
COLQUITT, Ga. -

Gov. Nathan Deal has signed an executive order naming five replacements to the Miller County School Board after the system was put on probation by an accreditation agency.

Deal's order appoints Monica Posey, Craig Tully, J.C. Johnson, Richard Little and Billy Roland to serve out the remainder of the terms of the officials whom they replaced.

The Albany Herald reports that an outside evaluator placed the district on probation because of what it described as in-fighting on the school board. The Georgia Board of Education recommended that Deal remove all five board members.

The governor dissolved the board and named a committee of educators to recommend replacements.
