Police were searching for two thugs who slashed the throat of a 75-year old woman during a brutal robbery in the Bronx.
The NYPD says that Rosa Rodriguez was on here way home from the supermarket Friday night when she was targeted. She was returning to her apartment at the St. Mary's Park Houses on Westchester Avenue in the Mott Haven section.
Rodriguez got off the elevator outside of her 16th floor apartment when the two suspects, who had been following her, started the attack.
They jumped her from behind as she opened the front door. They smacked Rodriguez several times before slashing her neck, police said. Rodriguez suffered two deep lacerations, a cut to her head, severe bruising, and swelling in her right eye.
She was taken by EMS to Lincoln Hospital but was expected to survive.
