Shares of Facebook got a boost Friday after the announcement that the social networking giant's new service allows users to send gifts to each other.
This revenue generator is Facebook's first big step into the e-commerce business.
This how it works: When one of your friends has a life event or a birthday, you can order a gift for that person. When she or he "unwraps" the gift on Facebook, your account gets charged, and the item ships to the recipient.
You may not see this service available to you just yet. Facebook said it is rolling it out slowly.
