Jurors deliberate in flight attendant slaying

Posted: Updated:
MARIETTA, Ga. -

Jurors near Atlanta are expected to begin deliberations in the trial of a man accused of killing a flight attendant in 1995.

The Marietta Daily Journal reports that jurors were to begin their deliberations Friday after hearing nearly four hours of closing arguments on Thursday.

Waseem Daker is charged with murder in the Oct. 23, 1995 killing of Karmen Smith in her east Cobb County home. Prosecutors say he also repeatedly stabbed Smith's 5-year-old son Nick, who survived the attack. Prosecutors say Daker had been stalking a woman who lived upstairs from Smith.

Friends said Smith was a prom queen and lettered in several sports at Williamsburg High School in Iowa. Her job as a flight attendant for Delta Air Lines was her first job after graduation from college.
