Tools stolen from Wyandotte Jaycees' haunted house

WYANDOTTE, Mich. (WJBK) -

The Jaycees are a community service organization who have been devoting their time to build a haunted house in Wyandotte like they do every year. Their progress was frightening until building their dream haunted house turned into a real life nightmare. Someone broke in and stole all their tools.

It's a personal loss for the group since they use their personal tools, a value of $9,000 gone. Most of the members have full-time jobs working by day and building by night.

Wyandotte Police say the break-in was likely not random. The thief knew the tools would be left overnight.

Tuesday night, the thief hit both the haunted house and the warehouse on the property, stealing wiring, power tools and building supplies.

Now the Jaycees are more devoted than ever to put on a phenomenal grand opening. They will have to work double time, but hard work doesn't scare them.

The Jaycees say this theft won't stop their show. They still plan to open on October 4. Tickets are $12. For more information, visit www.WayndotteJaycees.org.

    A store clerk inside of a Brooklyn mini-mart was set ablaze when an enraged sicko threw a Molotov Cocktail into the store.  It happened just before 2 a.m. on Wednesday at the store on Fort Hamilton Parkway.The 34-year-old store clerk had his hair and coat catch fire in the attack.
