Sheep in Bryant Park

MYFOXNY.COM -

A herd of sheep took over Bryant Park in Manhattan on Thursday.

The sheep are part of the Campaign for Wool sponsored by the Prince of Whales to teach Americans the environmental benefits of wool.

The lawn at Bryant Park at Sixth Ave. and 42nd Street was the grazing ground for 30 sheep and the water in the fountain was replaced by flowing spools of wool yarn.

Prince Charles began promoting wool production and Wool Week when it was reported a few years back that the world's sheep population was declining.

Bryant Park is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday.

It once was an accepted tactic as old as policing itself and, according to the NYPD, a key to the city's dramatic drop in crime: patrol officers stopping young men on the street to see if they're up to no good.
