Congressman Michael Grimm's campaign headquarters on Staten Island was vandalized Sunday morning.

Two large chunks of cement and smaller rocks were thrown through the windows of his office located at 2582 Hylan Boulevard in the New Dorp section.  Grimm also told police that he believes the suspect attempted to corrupt and erase the hard-drive of the campaign computer server, which contained confidential campaign files and polling data.

Police say this incident follows a theft of "Grimm for Congress" lawn signs from the yards of supporters and a theft of a small billboard.

"This is a disgraceful act of cowardice that is beneath the people I represent.  Here in Staten Island, we are a family community, which is why despite our differences in opinions and political views, we have never seen an attack on a campaign escalate to this level," said Rep. Grimm.

The U.S. Capitol Police have been notified and are working with the NYPD in this investigation.

"Even though this is not an official office, this heinous act represents an assault on democracy and the political process, more so than it does on me as person or a candidate. I do believe this is a politically motivated crime, and will continue to work closely with the NYPD in identifying and prosecuting those responsible," Grimm said.

Grim is a first-term GOP congressman who is running for re-election against Mark Murphy.

Police have no known suspects at this time.
