Police say a 35-year-old man died in a motorcycle crash in Queens Friday night.
According to Nassau County police, the motorcyclist was traveling south on the Rockaway Turnpike in the Meadowmere section around 8:00 p.m. when a minivan driven by a 72-year-old driver made a left turn, cutting across the path of the motorcycle.
The motorcycle struck the minivan, throwing the rider off the bike.
The unidentified motorcyclist suffered severe head trauma and was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities checked the brakes on the minivan before returning it to the owner. The victim's motorcycle was impounded for safety checks.
