FOX Chicago Sunday: Lance Tyson on running against Derrick Smith

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

His opponent was indicted, and kicked out of the General Assembly. But Lance Tyson still finds himself in a deep hole in the Illinois 10th District race.

You might think it would be easy to win a race against a political opponent facing federal bribery charges. But remember, this is Illinois.

According to a poll released last week, indicted West Side Democrat Derrick Smith, who was expelled from the state legislature last month, could very well win his job back this November.

The Chicago lawyer is running as a third party candidate - supposedly with the backing of the Democratic Party - and trails the indicted Derrick Smith in that poll by a margin of 47 percent to 9 percent.

Tyson joined FOX Chicago Sunday to talk about what he's doing to try to close the gap.
