All westbound lanes of Route 3 were closed in Clifton, New Jersey for more than five hours Monday morning.

A 60-year-old man was struck and killed by an SUV on Route 3 near Main Ave. just after 5 a.m., according to Det. Sgt. Robert Bracken.

SkyFoxHD was over the scene as traffic was backed up to Route 17 for the entire morning commute. Traffic on the eastbound lanes was also slow moving due to 'rubbernecking.'

Clifton Police searched for clues near the deadly crash scene and outside a Shell gas station.

The driver of the white vehicle remained at the scene and had not been charged in the incident, according to police. The SUV had visible damage above the front, left tire.

It is not clear what the victim was doing on the roadway when he was struck.
