LeFrak City, a huge residential complex in Corona, Queens, is turning 50. Inside the complex is like a city onto itself – a mosque, swimming pool, Baptist church, and a library.
The 40-acre site was purchased from the Astor estate for $7 million in 1960.
It is owned by the LeFrak family, who wanted to provide hard working New Yorkers with affordable but nice homes.
Just in time for its 50th birthday, LeFrak city is getting a bit of a facelift, with a number of renovations and upgrades already under way.
