Hundreds of people turned out to a regularly scheduled meeting of the Wantagh, Long Island, School Board. They were not there to discuss any specific policy or budget item but to rally in support of a former part-time custodian whom many says was wrongly terminated from his job.

Mel Turner, 45, has autism. He spent 5 years cleaning cleaning the middle school. But he was let go after he was recorded making threats against the school. But he has apologized and said that he was reacting to being bullied by a group of teens.

UPDATE: The school board announced late Thursday that it will allow Mel Turner to attend homecoming and will revisit the case on Friday.
