The second season of the X Factor debuts Wednesday night on FOX with new judges Britney Spears and Demi Lovato joining Simon Cowell and L.A. Raid on the hit singing competition show.

"It's been amazing. Simon is sweet and charming. The cast is amazing. It's been fun," Spears told FOX 5 News.

At a Los Angeles screening Tuesday of the season premiere, fans called out, "We love you, Britney."

Her boss, "X Factor" executive producer Simon Cowell, said Spears is "the new queen of mean" for her blunt assessment of contestants.

But Spears also showed a softer side in the episode, calling one young singer "completely and utterly adorable" and another "flawless."

"X Factor"airs Wednesday at 8 p.m. on Fox 5. The second episode airs Thursday.
