Yonkers residents who died in the September 11 terrorist attacks were remembered by their family members and community Sunday morning.

A Yonkers Waterfront Memorial Plaque was unveiled at Water Grant Street to honor the 24 people who lost their lives that horrible day. The plaque displayed the names of the 24 residents.

Family members in attendance paid tribute to their loved ones by tossing roses into the Hudson River in remembrance.

The City of Yonkers will also unveil a monument made from World Trade Center steel to be dedicated on Tuesday, September 11.

"Both of these memorials will offer a place where people can pay tribute to the Yonkers residents who died on 9/11 and to those who later died serving their country," said Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano.

The monument will come from a 38-foot, 4,000 ton steel beam and will be dedicated at a 7:30 p.m. at Conor Park off McLean Avenue near Central Park Avenue.
