Suffolk County Police arrested a couple after they were found sleeping in a parked car with a 4-year-old boy in the backseat on Long Island Sunday morning.

An officer found Bradley Pearl, 26, and his girlfriend, Elizabeth Shoppman, 34, sleeping in a 2011 Hyundai Elantra still running in the parking lot of a King Kullen Supermarket at 275 West Jericho Turnpike in Huntington Station around 9:09 a.m.

The officer also saw Schoppmann's son in the backseat and after investigating the couple, determined they were under the influence of drugs.

Police charged Pearl with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child 15 Years Old or Younger, a felony under Leandra's Law, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Schoppmann was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Both Pearl and Shoppman, who are from Plainview, will be held overnight and will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on September 10.

The 4-year-old is in the care of a neighbor and Nassau County Child Protective Services was contacted.
