Schumer calls for child-protect lids on cleaner 'pods'

Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) is calling for more protection from the colorful, tightly wrapped "pods" of gel laundry and dishwashing detergent that children may think is candy.
Schumer says the popular single-use, gel packages of detergent have made thousands of children sick nationwide because the can be toxic. Some of those children were hospitalized.
The senator says there have been multiple isolated reports in New York of kids getting sick after eating the pods.
Schumer said he's sending a letter Sunday to the Federal Consumer Product Safety Commission asking for the precautions. He also wants a child-protective lid and a warning label on the detergent.
