Midtown pub changes name to Chippers to honor Braves slugger

A Midtown sports bar has renamed itself for the weekend.
Foley's Pub and Restaurant on 18 West 33rd Street is now called "Chippers" in honor of long time Atlanta Braves third baseman and Mets adversary Chipper Jones.
The 40-year-old Braves slugger is playing his last series against the Mets in New York since he is retiring at the end of the season.
Jones has terrorized the Mets for 49 career homeruns - his most against any team and has enjoyed playing at the Mets' former ballpark, Shea Stadium, so much that he named his son Shea.
The Mets also honored their division rival by presenting Jones with a commemorative painting before Friday night's game.

The driver of a vehicle that crashed into a grocery store on 2nd Avenue and East 4th Street in the East Village on Wednesday morning has been arrested. The car jumped the curb before mowing down a tree, light post, fire hydrant and injuring six people.
