Harlem's Success Academy wins top honor

Posted: Updated:

Success Academy Harlem 1 has been named a national Blue Ribbon School, one of only five New York City schools, and one of just two charter schools in the state to win the prize.

The Blue Ribbon award is the U.S. Department of Education's highest honor.

Success Harlem 1 opened in 2006 and serves students in grades K-7.

"We opened Success Academy Harlem 1 with the fundamental belief that children of all backgrounds are capable of reaching the stars," said Eva Moskowitz, the founder and CEO of Success Academy Charter Schools. "I could not be prouder of Principal Jackie Albers, her phenomenal teachers, and the children and families whose combined efforts are ensuring that our scholars receive a world-class education and a love of learning."
