Cops: couple left toddlers home alone to go get married

Posted: Updated:

A Casselberry, Fla. couple was arrested after police said they left three young children home alone while they got married.

Police said Daniel Richards, 34, and Kymberly Frederick, 30, left their 1, 2 and 3 year olds home alone while they went to the Seminole County Courthouse to get married. When a neighbor found out, she called police.

According to the police report, Frederick left a note for her two older kids who were expected home from elementary school around 3 o'clock Thursday.  It read, "If you get home and we are not here, call us on the phone when you get here. Love mom."

Police said the couple called a neighbor while they were already on their way to the courthouse, asking the woman to watch for their two older kids coming home from school.  When the neighbor asked where the little ones were, police said Frederick told her they were inside the home sleeping.  That neighbor then called police.

Police went into the house and found the kids in their beds, unharmed. Police arrested both Frederick and Richards on child neglect charges.  The couple's five children were taken from the home and placed in foster care.

Richards remains in the Seminole County Jail on $2,000 bond.  Frederick bonded out on Thursday evening.
