Former New York City Mayor Ed Koch expects to be released from the hospital on Friday, September 7, 2012, his spokesman said.
"He said he'll go straight to the office," said George Artz, Koch's spokesman.
Koch, 87, was admitted to New York-Presbyterian Hospital earlier this week. He was treated for anemia and underwent a blood transfusion, Artz had said.
Koch, a Democrat who often crosses party lines with endorsements, served three terms as mayor from 1978 to 1989.
