Some homes were evacuated in Middletown, N.J. after what appeared to be an old military bomb was found on Ideal Beach.

It turned out that the ordinance was not real and may have been used for training at one time.

The call came in just after 8 a.m. on Friday to the Middletown police.  A parks and recreation employee found the device.

The state police bomb unit and Navy explosives team responded.

After they determined that nothing was active, they allowed people who were evacuated to return to their homes.
