A tractor trailer overturned in an exit ramp on the New Jersey Turnpike on Thursday morning. Police say the driver died in the crash.
It happened in the southbound lanes in Newark, near Exit 14, the exit for routes 1&9. The ramp going to eastbound lanes of the Newark Bay extension were closed.
Rescue crews were trying to get to the driver out as cranes kept the truck in place.
An emergency helicopter was waiting to transport the victim to the hospital before they determined that he had died.

A couple was found shot dead inside a park in Montclair, N.J. Police say they were responding to calls about shots fired when they discovered the bodies of Shanae Q. Howard, 24, of Orange and Brandon Brown, 26, of Montclair. The couple were found near a bench in Canterbury Park at around 10 p.m. on Thursday. A weapon was recovered at the scene.
