A man is accused of yelling racial slurs before grabbing a fork and stabbing a black man who was sitting with two white women in a Brooklyn diner.

Nicholas Melo, 34, now faces assault and hate crime charges.

Melo called two white women sitting with the victim "n----- loving b------" inside the Bridgeview Diner, according to an indictment presented in Brooklyn Supreme Court.

Prosecutors claim Melo stabbed the black man in the head and back with a fork and punched him as he called him "n-----."

The victim had deep puncture wounds on his head and back after the attack.

The incident took place at about 2:45 a.m. on Nov. 5, 2011 in Bay Ridge but Melo was not arrested until after a traffic stop in April.

Melo is out on $50,000 bail.  He faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
