In yet another incident of gun violence in New York City this summer, a child was shot and wounded in the Bronx, not far from Yankee Stadium, Monday night.

A 9-year-old boy was shot in the leg, police said.  The child was rushed to Lincoln Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

The shooting happened at East 157th Street and Walton Avenue at about 7 p.m.

The shooting stemmed from two teenage girls who were arguing nearby.  A male friend of one of the girls fired into a crowd of about 20 people, according to a report in the New York Post.

Police had very little information about the suspect.  He was described as a black man about 18-20 years old.  Investigators were reportedly able to get the license plate of the car he drove away in but that information was not released.
