A Rockland county woman is accused of running away and leaving her baby behind after being accused of shoplifting.

Ramapo Police were called to a CVS on Nyack Turnpike in Ramapo on Friday.  They say that two women had placed merchandise into the bottom of the baby carriage, with the baby inside, and then left the store.

When police were called, the found Gabrielle Exantus of Spring Valley at the store with a three month old child in a carriage.  Another suspect, Shanavia Labbay of Spring Valley had run away the scene.  Police determined that Labbay is the mother of the child.

Police eventually found and arrested Labbay.  Each woman was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and petit larceny.  Labbay also faces child abandonment charges.

The baby was taken into custody by child protective services and placed with a relative.
