Police arrested a woman for driving while intoxicated with two children in the car after finding her driving without a tire on one of her wheels.
Suffolk County Police arrested Mary L Kimbrough, 64, of Wyandanch on Friday night at about 9 p.m.
They say she was driving a 2004 Honda northbound on Commack Road at Motor Parkway in Commack when a sergeant heard a loud noise coming from her car. He pulled her over and noticed that the front tire was missing.
The two children, ages 9 and 11-year old, had been calling relatives for assistance as they were being driven. Officers described them as upset and frightened. They were released to other family members.
Officers determined that Kimbrough was drunk and arrested her. Kimbrough had also been convicted in 2009 for driving while intoxicated.
Kimbrough faces a series of charges and was to be arraigned in Central Islip on Saturday.
