DETROIT, Mich. (WJBK) -

Courthouse witnesses confirm there was a commotion at 36th District Court in Detroit. Judge Miller cleared her courtroom Thursday after a bailiff reported what appeared to be a bedbug on a man in court.

Court security confirmed to Fox 2 News that the judge cleared her docket and sent her staff home for the day.

John Smith was in a different courtroom, but said he hoped he was not taking home any unwanted guests.

"Bedbugs are pretty scary. I heard you've got to burn all your mattresses, throw out your clothes, get to costing a lot of ... money."

A spokesperson for 36th District Court said a bedbug sniffing dog will check out judge's courtroom and look for the bloodsucking insects. Pest control will also fumigate the courtroom for other unwanted pests. Business as usually is expected on Friday.

The court has not confirmed that bedbugs are actually in courtroom. They said that information won't be released until Friday morning.
