A security vehicle used to protect the New York Stock Exchange slammed into three people on the sidewalk in Lower Manhattan, fatally injuring an elderly man on Thursday, officials said.

The man, Sorel Deps-Medina, 70, of Queens, was taken to New York Downtown Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

A 62-year-old woman suffered injuries to her leg and a 31-year-old man was also hurt, the NYPD said. They and the driver were also taken to New York Downtown Hospital.

Police said the truck was used as a security street blocker.

Witnesses said that a security guard was moving a truck when the vehicle jumped the curb.

Police confirmed that the driver was moving it out of the way to let a vehicle pass when it accelerated and hit the pedestrians.

Cops are investigating why the driver accelerated and jumped the curb, but do not suspect criminality.

The accident happened in front of 45 Broad Street near Exchange Place.
