Sharks were caught on video in a feeding frenzy only 50 feet off the Jersey Shore. The footage was captured by a videographer last week at Island Beach State Park.
Tom Lynch of Seaside, New Jersey taped the black tip and spinner sharks in action at about 6 p.m. on Thursday after a friend alerted him to shark activity further out the day before.
What initially appeared to be small explosions of water about a mile and a half out quickly moved much closer and with a greater intensity, said Lynch during Good Day NY on Thursday.
Experts say it is a rare occurrence to have sharks so close to the shore in New Jersey. Warmer waters in the Garden State this summer could be a cause.
The video shot by Lynch has gone viral with almost 200,000 views.
