Army Maj. Thomas Kennedy was killed in Afghanistan three weeks ago. The 35-year-old father left behind twin toddlers, Brody and Maggie.

Also mourning his death are his former classmates at Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, New Jersey. They have set up a fund to finance the education of Kennedy's children, who turn 2 this month.

Kennedy had been on his way to meet with Afghan leaders when a suicide bomber killed him and another soldier.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.

After prep school Kennedy went on to West Point and served two tours of duty in Iraq.

His former classmates have already raised more than a quarter of a million dollars for the fund known as Kennedy's Angels.

Classmates remember him as as avid hockey player with a generous spirit.
