The West Side Highway needs someone to take out the garbage. For months trash has been piling up in the middle islands of a stretch of the roadway that runs from Lower Manhattan to West 59th Street, DNAinfo.com reported.
One area that is especially messy is the wide and heavily trafficked crossings just south of Chambers Street.
Government agencies are arguing over whose responsibility it is clean up the litter. In the meantime nothing is being done. Until city and state come to an agreement, local politicians and residents are looking for a solution.
