Man slashes clerk who refused to sell beer

A Brooklyn bodega worker was recovering after being slashed in the face by a man he told he couldn't use food stamps to buy beer.

It happened at Express Deli at Broadway and Gates in Bushwick.

Mutahar Murshed Ali told the Daily News that a drunk man became enraged when he found out he couldn't buy a 22-ounce Colt 45 with a food stamp card.

The suspect reportedly hurled a racial slur and then stormed out of the store.  He quickly returned, dove across the counter and sliced open Ali's face.

The attacker is still on the loose.

suspect fled the blood-spattered bodega on Broadway near Gates Ave. — and is being hunted by cops.

Ali was taken to the hospital for stitches before returning to work a few hours later.

The suspect was described as black, 25 to 30 years old, with short black hair and brown eyes.
