TROY, Mich. (WJBK) -

Nearly 1,100 walkers gathered Friday morning at Oakland Mall in Troy to kick off this year's Susan G. Komen 3-Day.

Following the Opening Ceremonies, the walkers began their 60-mile trek over three days culminating at Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn Sunday afternoon.

The walk is for women and men who want to make a personal difference in the fight to end breast cancer.

Seventy-five percent of the net proceeds raised by Komen 3-Day help support national research and large public health outreach programs. The remaining 25 percent supports local community and Affiliate outreach programs.
