MESA, Ariz. (AP) - A Mesa woman accused of stabbing her husband after arguing about their former lovers has pleaded not guilty in the case.

Maricopa County prosecutors say 22-year-old Noelle Clough entered her plea Thursday. Her next scheduled court date is Oct. 2.

Police say Clough was drinking with her husband in the early morning hours of June 11 at their Mesa home when they began arguing about their past lovers.

Clough told police her husband threw two knives on the ground and that he asked her to stab him with 1 of them.

She stabbed him in the back as he walked away from her and then called police.

When officers arrived, they say Clough asked them to shoot her.

She was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
