TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - An Arizona appeals court is being asked to overturn a judge's decision to grant a new sentencing hearing for a woman convicted in her college dorm mate's murder.

Galareka Harrison is serving a natural life prison term in the 2007 stabbing death of 18-year-old Mia Henderson, a fellow Navajo and University of Arizona freshman at the time.

Harrison's new attorney argued that two public defenders did a poor job of representing the then 19-year-old student and she shouldn't be in prison for the rest of her life without the possibility of parole.

The Arizona Daily Star says Pima County Superior Court Judge Scott Rash imposed a stay in the case Thursday. Prosecutors say they're asking the state Court of Appeals to overturn Rash's decision for a new sentencing hearing.
