Suspected drunk driver accused of crashing twice in Macomb Co.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) -
Police say a suspected drunk driver crashed twice in Macomb County and took off. However, a piece of incriminating evidence was left behind.
"I was sitting in the garage and I just [saw] her come flying through here, and boom, she hit me," said Jim Leadbetter.
His truck is now junk. It was parked outside his home Thursday morning when witnesses say a red Ford Taurus came flying down the street, jumped the curb and slammed into it.
We asked Leadbetter whether the driver stopped or slowed down.
"Oh no, she was traveling probably eighty miles an hour," he replied.
However, Clinton Township police say this was the driver's second crash of the day. She had already taken out a school crossing sign and slammed into another parked vehicle just a few blocks up the street.
"She probably hit those cars and was trying to get out of here," Leadbetter said.
It appears this driver wasn't going to let anything stop her. She even lost her driver's side door.
"We think she made it to Gratiot and continued southbound on Little Mack into Roseville and then to Saint Clair Shores," said Clinton Township Police Captain Joe Mertes.
That's where we're told her battered Taurus stalled and police caught up with her. For now, they'll only identify her as a 47-year-old woman from Saint Clair Shores, and she will most likely have a lot of explaining to do.
"If I had been standing there, I would've got whacked. I hope she goes to jail," said Leadbetter.
