Elvis Presley died 35 years ago Thursday. His ex-wife, Priscilla, and daughter Lisa Marie, made a rare appearance Wednesday night at Graceland for a vigil in honor of the King of Rock N'Roll.

Presley is buried at Graceland -- Elvis' Memphis, Tennessee mansion. It has been the location of an annual gathering marking his death since 1980.

Thousands of people attended the vigil that ran through Thursday morning.

"Know this. He loved his fans and this is proof that you love him and again as Lisa said we thank you very, very much for all that you do to keep his legacy going on and on and on. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts," said Priscilla Presley.

Elvis Presley died at the age of 42 on August 16, 1977 from a heart attack after battling prescription drug abuse.
