
Police have arrested the driver of an SUV that slammed into a Dunkin' Donuts restaurant in Jersey City Monday night.
On Tuesday, Marco Guardiola, 55, of New York Avenue in Jersey City, was charged with DWI, multiple counts of vehicular assault, and multiple motor vehicle violations, reported the Jersey Journal.
The crash injured eight people who were either inside the store or on the sidewalk. The victims included a teenaged girl and a pregnant woman, according to police.
The teenaged girl reportedly underwent a three-and-a-half hour operation. The pregnant woman and another woman were stable Tuesday, reported NJ.com.
Jersey City fire and emergency services director Armando Roman said the girl was in the doughnut shop with her mother and sister and sustained head trauma and two broken legs.
Guardiola was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center with minor injuries and released. Two others were also released.
Guardiola was reportedly driving with a suspended license.
The accident happened at 318 Central Avenue at about 8:40 p.m.
